Fridgemaster Coolbox

I have just purchased a Fridgemaster FMT27GR Coolbox. On the lid it has a switch marked AES which can be on or off. When its on, a green light shows. When the box is plugged in to the 12v supply, the fan is on and it shows the temperature regardless of the position of this switch.

The instructions don't mention the switch.

Any ideas?

Could it be part of the automatic cut-off system which ensures that the Coolbox doesn't flatten the car battery?
It's an Automatic Energy Selector which can switch from one energy supply to another, eg mains to car or to gas in a camper. If you only have one supply source it has no function.
