Lnb Details

Living in France, and have a 1 LNB dish linked to Sky.
Now whenever a black cloud comes over or there is even a hint of rain in the air,
my LNB sniffs it out and says whoa, l'm gonna give you a pixelated screen!
I know the dish is fine, but now want to get a Freesat box and a double LNB.
So tell me about LNB's. Are there good and bad ones and does power come into it?

There's not a lot of difference between LNBs (in my opinion) but there's a great deal of difference in the signal quality obtained from different-sized dishes. You probably need to use a larger dish.

Also thanks to BC. The dish size is not the problem, but l take on board what you are saying.

Chris is 80% right, you are 20% right.

LNB's do differ, but not hugely. the dish makes a lot more difference, but not just the size of it, the alignment of it too, one degree out on the dish alignment and you are pointing about 200 miles away from the sat!

You've not said what size dish you are using or where you are exactly either...most of france is outside the nominal footprint from the astra (sky) sats.

I'd suggest you get a decent installer in and accept you may have to upgrade the dish.
