Well they should do............

yes it says the bill is including VAT but i cannot see it itemised anywhere. I had to ring my docs yesterday but their phones were not manned properly and so everytime I got to the top of the queue it apparently disconnects if there is noone to take the call. I rang 6 times over the day and it kept happening and it has cost me £4.38 in calls and so I have written to the practice manager in my most formidable language to request they pay that amount directly into my bank before the direct debit is due on 1st november, as my total acll charges for the past 26 days are £10.28 and 50% of that is the calls to their stupid system yesterday. I just wanted to check that I should charge them the VAT.

I have printed out the pages of the bill with their repeated number on it and highlighted each call and annotated it as well just to be clear and precise. I have added the copy of the bill charges to the letter.
The bill should show the applicable VAT Dotty, when I worked in BT billing it was shown separately.
Question Author
it isn't shown on BT bills now Craft, i googled it and there is a whole forum about the issue!
My itemised bills state "Amount payable inclusive of VAT" but do not show VAT as an extra addition.
I forgot to add that tis is with Talk Talk!
Question Author
yes that's what mine says twix, i assume it's VAT at 20% nut what elements of the bill are VATable, the rental, the usage, the bundles, the broardband charge? it is not clear.
You're not wrong Dotty, I've just viewed my bill online and it doesn't show VAT, it does say that if I want a bill showing VAT I can have one, I wonder when it changed..............
Question Author
apparently BT changed it when they changed quarterly to monthly charges, i think that's what i read on the forum earlier, to hoodwink customers into thinking they weren't paying extra for monthly billing.
Question Author
anyway I'm off to bed, got work tomorrow, I'm back in insommnia mode because i can't take my happy pills and wake up in time for work the next day : ( it's exhausting,
Night Dot x
I'd be wanting to switch supplier at those rates. Not that I'm a great fan, at least we have free calls with BT.
I wouldn't think that Free calls are included with the standard line rental.
You could be paying an extra monthly charge to cover what you believe to be free calls through the week, although some companies do allow inclusive free calls over the week-end without any extra cost.
Just a thought!
I can't speak for TalkTalk, but BT include a separate line for the overall VAT on the total calls and service on the front page of their bill. If i look on-line at my bill, the individual items will show at the before-VAT price.
