Agile is predicated on numerous small incremental deliveries that build confidence in deliverable schedules
However it rather assumes that stakeholders are willing to take numerous small increments and in industries like banking where there are strict change control policies this assumption is mostly false.
User acceptance tests often end up imposing an unacceptable overhead on the customer in such cases which together with the overhead associated with scrum itself (interminable planning meetings make it very costly)
Other Scrum ideas like architecture magically falling out of sprints also often fail to materialise causing major over-runs.
Of course if you're selling the latest management fad you don't really care
Consult - train - cashin and leg it eh?

You don't, if you want to get anything done you use the JFDI method. Agile is the latest in a long line of management BS approaches that just makes people with no skill think they are being useful.
This is no more than the latest idea that senior management have allowed themselves to be conned with. Middle management often realise this but they are climbing the greasy pole and/or invertibrate and thus senior management never get told the truth.
PS "Methodology" is the study of methods not one in itself.
