Recycling Christmas Cards

I can't decide whether to recycle my Christmas cards as paper or cardboard.
What do you do with yours?

We are fortunate in that our recycling is for "paper and cardboard" together so we don't have to worry about it - but if in doubt, take them to your local supermarket, ours has a large tub already for people to drop their cards in.

As they are cardstock, and not actual cardboard, I put in with paper.

I expect the local school would like them for the children to cut up.

morrisons have a big collection point as you enter the store

some I cut up and use for gift tags.

Our local post office always collects them, though I keep a few back to cut up and use for competition entries instead of postcards.

I cut mine I half and use the plain side for shopping lists and occasionally as recycled post cards for competitions.

I collect mine up and take them to the recycling box in M&S. Happens to be opposite where I work.

The proceeds go to the Wooodland Trust and there's no need to separate out those with glitter or other non-recyclable decorations.

I normally save mine until it is windy, I then use them on the fire to starve it of oxygen, It works brilliant and saves me money,

josephine - I am being incredibly dense but why would you want to starve a fire of oxygen? Why only when it is windy? I know that once I have been told the answer I will feel stupid - but I had to ask. :-)

I didn't get enough cards to worry about - use them as shopping lists etc.

If the wind is coming in a certain way, the fire will 'draw' more quickly and sweal away - reducing the oxygen slows this down and saves fuel.

Took it to all the place of interest ,look what I got ,some said well done weecalf you got a card bully for you .Might keep it for next Christmas just in case it came to the wrong address and it was not for me at all and I don't get one .Isnt life grand .

I cut them up and use them as postcards for my competitions.

I haven't entered a competition by mail for some years now - if you can't enter on-line, I don't do them.

I keep the plain sides to use for shopping lists for the rest of the year.

A friend has first pick as she makes her cards, she will cut bits out and revamp. I get the white bits back and use them for shopping and reminder lists, use a lot of reminder lists nowadays!

What a mixture of answers - good to see the interest. I think I'll secure mine with elastic bands and put them in the 'paper recycling box'. If the recycling men don't agree they can put them in with the cardboard.
