Not if I don't get my passport renewed, triggs. It doesn't actually run out until October this year but we are going to Dubrovnik in June and the passport will be invalid, I believe.
Do it now, then, tilly - it's less busy, it ramps up after Easter.

Croatia joined the EU on the 1st July last year. By law, all EU member states are obliged to recognise all EU passports throughout the FULL validity stated on them. (You could enter Croatia, using your existing passport, with only a few hours validity left on it. Since, as an EU citizen, you're entitled to remain there indefinitely, there can be no restriction on you using your passport to gain admission but, obviously, it helps if it's valid when leaving as well).

From the website of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office:
"Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. No additional period of validity beyond this is required."

I'm doing it as we...........speak, boxy. It's a bit convoluted isn't it? I can't find anywhere in the booklet that tells me how much it costs.
Use their on-line website, tilly, it's pretty straightforward to do it that way.

Here you are, £72.50 https://www.gov.uk/passport-fees
Do make sure you're using the official government site and not one of the commercial 'helper' sites as happened to a poster the other week :-(

Indeed, using the other sites will cost you a lot more.... :-(

Chris, thank you for that. That's o.k. then.
When we get our new passport, will it run from October or from when we get the new ones?
I'm concerned about the flight tickets having a different passport number.

I'm going to use the Post Office Check and Send facility.
Any remaining validity on an old passport (up to a maximum of 9 months) is automatically added to the validity of a new one. (i.e. a new passport expires 10 years after the date upon which the old one did, not 10 years after the date on which it was issued).
You don't have to wait until your passport expires to renew it. If there's any time left on your old one, the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) will add it to your new one, up to a maximum of nine months.

I have just rang our tour operator to check that we are o.k. for June. The young woman said, 'Yes, your passport will be valid for this trip but we usually tell people that it's six months, just to be sure'!

I shall be emailing them later.
