I would like a timer that is manually switched on each time I use an appliance but turns the appliance off after a set period of time. Rather like the timers on trouser pressies in hotels. The only timers I can find turn the appliance on at a preprogrammed time. Does anyone know if these exist? Any info would be gratefully received

try going to an electrical wholesalers and asking for a smith or timeguard ( brand names ) 24hr plug in timer. these have a button which gives you something like an hours overun.
