Can anyone tell me why mobile phone chargers are made upside down.  That is with the lead coming out of the top of the charger when it is plugged in.

erm, none of mine have been that way, and ive had a few!

The phone chargers you refer to are made in Australia.

I don't know, but I think it might be because most sockets are near floor level, and most people place their phone on a table etc. when charging, so it would be a good design feature to have the cable coming up instead of down - it will releive strain where the cable enters the charger body.

Nokia chargers all point down.
My sons game boy charger is upside down, I wondered this too
some electricians think its a good idea to install the outlet in the wall upsidedown. is yours?

so that a single transformer can be produced and different plugs (eg. britsh 3 prong, euro 2 prong) attached. the wiring needs to be in different places to make way for the british 3rd "earth" prong (the long one at the top).

I reck!!
