Toaster Settings

I have tried googling this but been unsuccessful in finding anything really. I was wondering does putting your toaster on a higher setting actually increase the power going through the element or simply keep the toast in front of the element for longer? Cheers

When my toaster packed in I contemplated buying another one. In the meantime I had to make toast under the cooker grill (as was always done when I was a child). I discovered that by keeping an eye on it I could have toast made to my perfect satisfaction, rather than rely on the vagaries of a "toaster" so I never bought another toaster.

They need to invent a small heatproof visual sensor that can monitor how brown each part of each side of the slice of bread is, and adjust the mini elements near that point to ensure it all browns evenly and pops up when the bread reaches the right shade of brown. And plays an alarm tune too. Mine is made by American Indians, it just sends up smoke signals.

These were excellent toasters. Did you have them in the UK? They did two slices one side at a time (It was up to you do decide when the side(s) were done). The doors on the toaster were so designed that when you opened them the slice slipped down untoasted side up so all you did was close the door and toast the other side...Simple, ingenious, and great toast every time!
