Formatting Text On Ab

Is it possible to use Italics on AB? Sometimes a word highlighted in italics can slightly change the context and much better than using capitals but I can't find a way to do it.

There is a dodgy method (things throw it) that works once per post.

Square bracket i end square bracket

either side of the text you want italicised.

Use [i] either side of the word without any spaces.

But... for some reason, it doesn't work (often) if used multiple times in one post and doesn't work if other symbols such as colons, semi-colons or hyphens are used in the sentence... at least in my experience on here...

And don't try playing about with the ASCII character numbers or escape sequences, as they don't work either!
