boxtops please tell me what I've suggested? I've not made a suggestion as to what the OP should do ,I've given my opinion that as far as I know its not illegal to take a sick day when you are not sick. Try reading the OP before pontificating, its embarrassing.
Svjek technically it could be fraud yes, but i would guess prosecution would be costly and not worth it over one days pay. I don't know why the OP can't just take a days leave.
Well none of this illegal in it's against the law. I think we are thinking against company rules, wasn't the right word to use really.
Retro, you've embarrassed yourself by not reading all the posts. Particularly the one where they gave the reason.
I'm not pontificating, retro, but I agree with prudie - to have an interview "coinciding" with a sick day wouldn't be acceptable to me. I couldn't do it myself, I'd be concerned about being found out, especially as potential employers often make that first telephone reference call to the current employer, straight after the interview.
...and yes, zacs - ILB's not taking one day off, she's on sick leave already.
Zacs I can assure you I've read everything the OP has written on this subject and its conflicting to say the least. I am referring to her post at 13.41 where she states ' first time I've been off sick and its only one day' which to me denotes she is indeed working at present (not on the sick) and is contemplating taking one sick day off to attend the Interview. How you can interpret this any other way is baffling.
ilmb gives the impression of being off long term but does go on to say she's never taken sick-leave before and its only one day. So take your pick, lol.
Svejk - Perhaps the OP could return and clarify.
Retro, if you've read all the OP's posts then you'll know that your statement 'This would suggest that the OP is taking a day off, pretending to be sick,' is incorrect. I'm baffled as to why you would suggest it was 'pretending'.
Good luck with your interview
Gosh Zacs you must be having a really boring day........The OP has given little info - 3 posts of one sentence each. Her posts and conflicting.
Retro, at 13:27 the OP stated 'the reason im off sick is because of my current job has caused a decline in my mental heailth no supoort etc'
But then you'd know that, having read all the posts.
ilovemarkb/// first time ive been off sick and its only one day ///
13:41
Like I said, take your pick.
zacs -YAWN- yes I know that, that is why I've said her posts are conflicting. I am restricting any further replies to things on Topic, as this is becoming personal and frankly I'm not interested in having a set too.
Svejk, that's not giving an alternative, just saying it's for one day.
Pah.
