E-Cards, Where's The Profit?

As it happens to be my birthday, I have received a couple of these, - very nice, but what I don't understand is that a great deal of work goes into this site (Jaqui Lawson) doing all this animation and hosting it, but it contains no advertising at all, and sending them seems to cost nothing.
So what's the catch do you think?

There is a subscription charge to send the Jaquie Lawson cards, (£11.00 for two years) and very good value too in my opinion.
