There are 5 houses of 5 different colors. In each house lives a person of a different nationality. Each of the 5 residents drinks a certain type of beverage, smokes a certain brand of cigar, and keeps a certain pet. None of them have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar or drink the same beverage.
Who owns the fish?
Clues:
The Brit lives in the red house.
The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
The Dane drinks tea.
The green house is on the left of the white house.
The resident of the green house drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
The resident of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
The resident of the center house drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The person who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
The person who keeps the horse lives next to the one who smokes Dunhill.
The person who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
The German smokes Prince.
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
The person who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water.
I have worked it out and will post a solution later only if requested

I posted the riddle for the benefit of others and there are two answers depending on how you interpret the line "The green house is on the left of the white house. "
If you interpret that as meaning immediately to the left then the answer is the German - one arrives at the answer by logic - there is not trick to it - draw out a grid and start filling it in according to the clues you are given and everything slots into place.

Both solutions assume the western principle of "First" equating to "Leftmost" (as we write from left to right as opposed to some cultures who write right to left)
The Classic Solution - Assuming Green house is IMMEDIATELY left of the White house
LEFT
Norwegian - Yellow - Water - Dunhill - Cats
Dane - Blue - Tea - Blends - Horse
Brit - Red - Milk - Pall Mall - Birds
German - Green - Coffee - Prince - Fish
Swede - White - Beer - Bluemasters - Dogs
RIGHT
My Solution - Assuming Green house is can be anywhere to the left of the White house
Norwegian - Green - Coffee - Pall Mall - Birds
German - Blue - Water - Prince - Cats
British - Red - Milk - Blends - Horse
Dane - Yellow - Tea - Dunhill - Fish
Swede - White - Beer - Bluemasters - Dogs
Both solutions satisfy all criteria - apparently only 2% of the population can get it right - I find this hard to believe.

I did it assuming the green house could be anywhere left of the white, and I ended up with the same answer except for cat and fish were switched. It seems to match all the criteria, but since the riddle was most likely designed for one answer, I think Einstein might have meant the green to be directly left. I don't know... just my 2 cents.
