Email To Me From Me?

I regularly get emails into my hotmail junk folder showing my name in the title and showing my email address when I hover over it.

I never open them and they are undoubtedly spam, but how does this work?

The 'From' field in an email doesn't actually show the sender. It shows whatever the sender has entered into the 'Reply to' field of his message. Some spammers use the email address that they're send spam to in the 'Reply to' field, resulting in people apparently getting spam from themselves.

You can send emails to yourself. I often do it when using attachments so I can check that the attachment works.
Yes you can ummmm but these are spam emails which appear to come from playbill but don't actually come from him/her
When I started to get a few of these emails apparently from myself I changed my password in case someone had hijacked my account

^^^send = sending.

The message title is 'DON T (sic) IGNORE THIS' . If I right click the sender name I can go to 'View message source' where the only understandable information shown is 'yearsununiverse.net'.
As Buenchico indicates this isn't uncommon and if you simply delete it there will probably be nothing to worry about. But you can always change your password if you are worried about your account having been hijacked

I am not worried about it, simply curious. Thanks for all the replies.
