Highly hypothetical without real data but ....

At full power, the average PC and monitor use nearly 200 watts of power, and even in the "hibernate" mode, they consume 4 watts.)

Equals 1,752 KWh, and if you know what your utility provider charges (I think the average in the uk is about 5p per KWh).  You can summise...

That for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the cost is �87.60 a year, 24p a day or 1p per hour.

plus you have the costs for repairs of the PC (which unlike a server (which consumes even more power)) is not designed to stay on 24/7. The motherboard components, hard-disks, memory, processor etc. over-heat causing random PC shut-downs and eventually knacker that operating system - that is if the hard-disk itself hasn't died or processor burn-out first.

Remember that servers has different components designed for 99% up-time.
