How to measure your floor with a tape measure - without it jumping and no matter what hard things you put on it it still moves. Thanks

You ought not need to put things on it, steel tapes are usually relatively stable if on a level surface.

there is nobody here hence the question and I need to get it done quickly as my housewoirk is falling way behind

old geezer - this is a very quite sharp rolly tape - can;t think of anything to do
Find a suitable stick.
sellotape it to the wall at one end?
Stick it down with sellotape or blu tack.

you are not gonna believe it - it is a very very strong stainless steel tape.
If it has a loop at the end put a nail in the floor and hang the loop on that
doesn't it have a lock to stop it springing back while you measure?
Measure it in sections and add the measurements together, it's not going to need to be to the exact millimeter.
Instead of trying to measure a complete side of the room, measure in short
sections and add them up.

Pull the measure out to, say 2 meters, and lock it off. Then measure the length/width in 2 meter sections until it reaches less than 2 mtrs.
