My o2 contract finishes on 06/08/15. Can I cancel early as I want to change phone and network? If I can't cancel can I just not use my phone and pay my monthly charge as normal and use my new phone as well? Thanks for any feedback.

Yes. You can cancel, and would have to pay the remainder of the contract.
That is normal and perfectly fair.
It's not long to wait, why not just ride it out for two months?
When I renewed my 02 contract last week, they reminded me that if I cancelled early, I'd still have to pay the balance of the value of the handset.

Thank you all for your comments. It's a relief to know that I can cancel and I am happy enough to pay off the remaining costs. My O2 reception is not great so I am keen to try out EE.
Find a friend with EE and see if their reception is better where you need it.

Perhaps buy the cheapest PAYG phone on EE and try it out.

You might be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire, on another 24 month contract.

You could always go into an EE shop and ask them to prove in some way that their reception is better.
