Every day I get at least one letter, normally about 7. Today I got nothing at all, but was expecting one for sure. Does the postie sometimes just not bother if you only have one?

Generally they always deliver what they have as they mostly have a set round and are walking past your house anyway.

I reckon they save them up until they have a few. I too get 7 one day and then nothing for 3 days. Check the date stamps and I'll bet they don't match up.

They may be walking past your house but, they have to sort out the post for your address, open the gate, walk up the path, put through letterbox, then out again and doing this at every house on their route it will soon mount up, and in this weather...

perhaps they wait until they get a letter that looks 'official' otherwise they feel it can wait. its annoying when you are expecting something though.

Then again, maybe it just seems that way - who knows? - there have been a lot of postal strikes over that last few years here in liverpool so maybe that has something to do with it - can any posties comfirm or deny this??

Many years ago, i worked for RMail. Not as a postie, but in customer services. Youd be suprised what happens to peoples mail...
spill potatoman. you cant start that and leave us hanging...

I too was a postie and it isnt just up to the one who delivers your letters.  If u have got a lazy van driver who dont want to pick up the mail  (all of it ) from say... waterloo, he wont. It escalades   from there,  mayb the letter was posted at the right time, but the box was emptied early.Maybe he found it in his bag when he got back to the sorting office, and could not be bothered to go out again. Maybe even some cunning swine has nicked it! sorry but it does go on....

Hi Slim, I know what you mean I generally get mail everyday but you can guarantee I never get any on a Thursday and then get loads again on a Friday. I think they do save them up as they can't be bothered, incidentally, Thursday is the day our regular Postie doesn't work.
There was a recent documentary about the postal service anyone who watched it will know why i no longer post money in the post. going back to what in a pickle said about his post man being a 'Gem' i think your forgettin that... they get paid for it!

I agree with most opinions in this question. i think when they can't be bothered... they don't bother!

Count yourself lucky guys,

Post where I am (Fuerteventura) takes over a month to get to your doorstep from local post boxes and if its from the UK, well it has taken over 9 weeks before!
