Reasons Not To Travel Abroad For Treatment
41 Answers
Hi there,
I've been dealing with medical tourism for 5 years now and would like to push my limits a little bit in this area. Therefore, I would appreciate if you could specify the reasons of why you'd rather not travel abroad for treatment? Your fears, doubts, stereotypes?
Thanks so much in advance.

Some of the reasons that make patients seek medical help overseas mostly include financial issues (3,000 Euro for an IVF package, 9,000 for a knee replacement surgery, etc.), long wait times (while most overseas hospitals offer admissions on the same day especially for heart patients) and unavailability of some procedures (say, HIV sperm cleansing).
I'm not saying NHS or any other system/destination is bad. I'm just trying to figure out why some people still prefer to stay home and overpay. It just doesn't sound reasonable to me.
PS. By indicating "I've been dealing with medical tourism for 5 years now", I'm specifying my professional area which is bridging patients and physicians worldwide. I'm not including any ads here or anything like that. Instead, I'm trying to clarify for myself things that I encounter every now and then at work.
