rent my home
4 Answers
My husband is in the military. We are buying our first home. We would like to keep it when we move. But we don't know the first thing about renting our home.
Just a few pointers on getting started would be great!

Have a chat with a few and get the idea of what they do, and what they charge, but it sounds like this will be an easier option than trying to oversee the whole thing yourself, which can be time consumung.
One important thing is to only lease on a six month basis that way if they are bad tenants, dont pay their rent promptly etc., you can get rid of them within six months. If they are good tenants you can let them stay as long as it suits you.
Make sure the agents charge a fairly high deposit, if they leave the property in a bad state of repair you can use their money to put things right.
Best of luck.
