As far as I aware it is not illegal to work on the water side of a boiler.

Donny thats true but to get to the pumpon a combi boiler the boiler case has to be removed and then it must be a Gassafe registered person that needs to carry out the work (i Believe ?)

You are quite correct and I have learned something. This could lead, in the event of an electrical fault, to needing a gas engineer to remove then replace a cover and an electrician to repair the fault. My previous experiences were as part of a maintenance team that had all the appropriate disciplines.
