I've got hold of a copy of Hoyle's rules for Poker, but there are quite a lot of variations. Which is the most commonly played?

Well at the moment just about everyone is playing "Texas Holdem".

Apparenly Hoyle's rules are a bit of a misnomer, since he died well before the first games of what we know as poker were ever played.

The World Series Poker Tournament is based on No Limits Texas Hold 'Em Poker, so that's probably the most commonly played commercial game, but Poker is played in peoples houses the world over, and each variation is popular in its own way.

I remember at school we used to play 5 card brag in the lunch hours for penny sweets from the tuck shop!

In the forces, we used to play five card draw, dealt twos and threes, thrown hands stacked lowest to the left, and no shuffling unless a (box), four of a kind is drawn. An absolutely brilliant game. But as Usula has said, there are a lot of variations out there.
Went to texas a few years ago...came across this old bar..on ..the window ..it..said..pokeher in the back...lickher in the front...sorry about the spelling!!I lost everything that night.!!but I still had a smile on me face(:)yahoo!!
