Had a dispute over the best position to use a linishing machine. I'd developed a more comfortable &, I believe, more efficient way, but instead of talking to me, people got upset as they assumed I must be slacking, but instead of watching to see the actual difference, they made instant assumptions.
I'd like to find out if my way was best, with some written instructions or illustrations.
They'd sit, facing the machine straight on, hunched over, on a high stool, looking down at the top of the machine & had to rapidly touch the rubber to the linisher for a split second, then lift it, turn it to the side to see where they had sanded & see if it needed more sanding. To others their arms moved swiftly, meaning harder work(!)
I, however, sat lower down, sideways on, eye level with the machine, leaning slightly back (in a recliner type office chair-was all they had, other than stools!)
I could see where I was linishing & how much more was needed so didn't have to do the rapid lifting, looking & down again motion, I just glided the items over the linisher in one go - but to others that looked slow - so obviously working less hard(!)
Also, when we'd finished an item, the other 2 linishers threw theirs into their own pile-I had an edge machine, next to a table, so it became a hazard if I put them there so I'd have to move them. This, to other workers, looked like my pile was always lower.
I also had to put my feet through the legs of the workbench as there was no room, which looked like I had them up. I wasn't sacked, (the job ended-it was a film) but I was told I was a slow worker (which i couldn't understand) & I got a general feeling of disapproval.
As I said no-one mentioned my posture, though I got some odd looks. It's this 'blindness' that angers me. Instantly re-acting before actually considering what was happening.
Can anyone tell me where I can get this information?
Thanks
