its in English, so just wondered if its going to work on my dvd player.

It should be fine as it will be a region 2 dvd which covers the whole of Europe. Dave.

thank you, i hope so, as couldn't get a copy here for some reason.
it should do; but it should say on it somewhere (or somewhere on the website you ordered it from) exactly which regions it will play in.
if it wont play let us know what make/model you have and we can find you a temporary hack to play it- usually just a combination of buttons on the remote to make it temporarily multi region.
France has a different system for their colour TVs, so you might have a problem with that. If you're lucky your DVD player will convert it from SECAM to PAL.
SECAM/PAL was only relevant for broadcast material, not DVD recordings...and is no longer an issue, anyway...it was only relevant for analogue set-up and France went digital (DVB-T) several years ago.
Thanks for that gingejbee. Many years ago a colleague had a video tape that was in the wrong format; I could play it on my machine but couldn't save the output in PAL. I wondered if the problem still existed - clearly it doesn't.
