Over £8 for a script I hope the pharmacy
I think it's the pharmacy. It originated to attract business but virtually all do it nowadays.
If it were the NHS, I suspect every pharmacy would have to do it. So, on that basis alone, I'd say Boots, Superdrug etc

The pharmacy doesn't keep that £8.60. They get paid a fixed fee for dispensing a prescription but the £8.60 goes to the NHS.

I've asked because I read that the government intends abolishing the prescription deliveries. I'll see if I can find a link
Can't see the government abolishing the delivery scheme.Only last week I received a pamphlet advertising Pharmacy 2U delivering NHS prescriptions ' free to your door'.
Question Author
Most chemists offer the service now, danny.

As an aside I don't know why Superdrug is called Superdrug - they don't dispense prescriptions.
If the pharmacies bear the cost of this service, what possible concern is it to the government? Unless, of course, the intention is that people who cannot get out will have to forgo their medication and eventually die, thus relieving the financial burden on the state.
Hc.The point I was making is that this a new set up and I don't think that they would have started if the government was going to stop deliveries,.,
Nor are they super HC!

The collection thing is a bit of a misnomer in my area. The surgery email the script to pharmacy of my choice. No more effort than printing and signing I would think.
Oops apologies, I missed the delivery bit. I would think that cost is borne by the pharmacy to win business.

That is a guess though.

Really? I didn't know they had any pharmacies.

Where I live they do JD. My script is on a monthly repeat and collect from them.
But are your prescriptions super ?
Hanley, stoke on trent hc.
//But are your prescriptions super ? //
No, but my lagers usually are :)
All the Superdrugs I've been in only sell OTC medicines and toiletries/cosmetics.
Superdrug

//It trades from nearly 900 stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Besides health and beauty products, the company also have pharmacies with consultation rooms in over 220 stores, and a further 19 contain nurse clinics.//
