Problems With Plastic.
30 Answers
With all the current bad publicity about plastic I have been more aware about this problem in my own area. I only have to drive to my local supermarket and I notice plastic sheets wrapped around trees and bushes, plastic bottles in grass verges, carrier bags in shreds caught on fences, the list goes on. Would it be a good idea to get offenders who are doing community service to be put to work collecting this rubbish.

If I see any litter on my daily walks - I pick it up and bin it. I do think that litter- picking would be a very suitable punishment for young offenders who have transgressed only mildly. When I was at school it was normal to send classes out for their turn at cleaning the school site and areas abutting. This was from infants through to grammar.

There are quite a lot of local litter picking groups around. We have one on the first saturday of the month but I don't get to many because I am working. I do think about the ethics re putting the street cleaning guy out of work though. The Marine Conservation Society and Surfers Against Sewage organise a lot of beach cleans which are good to get involved with. Every little helps

I saw a piece on you tube where somebody had gone to Japan for a holiday and was taking pictures of the high speed trains when he spotted a man picking up litter. About an hour later he saw him again, streets away, still picking up litter. It seems he was doing it just because he was proud of his country.
