Why with all the wonders of modern science and technology do you still have to fold a piece of toilet roll in half before you can use it ?

Because no matter how strong the toilet paper is made, we really don't want to get our hands dirty, so we use two sheets just to make sure!

You don't have to at all. What you do have to do though is to wash your hands afterwards!

For strength and it has to be flexible to go round different shapes, whatever the material.
