Have been trawling through the info you've given me - also been to out local funeral parlour and had a chat with them - they are able to do what I want. Have also checked out a company called Pure Cremations which advertise a package for just under £1200. Be really interested if anyone has any dealings with them or knows anything at all about them. Thanks everyone and stay well

Just had a look at their website rsvp. Hadn't heard of them before, but looks like something I would investigate. Will wait to hear from others.

There are quite a lot of reviews here...

... but how genuine they are is anyone's guess. Might be worth a read though.

Have done that maggiebee and it all looks lovely but you can't be too careful about these things. Maybe I'm just a suspicious old lady !
You need to know about the extra costs before committing to Pure Cremations. How much will they charge to collect the body from home, for example.
Would they be prepared to use a different sort of coffin? I'm having a cardboard coffin.
What exactly does the guarantee cover? What happens if the company goes bust?
Question Author
Quite a difference in some of the reviews but as I have no family to be upset about possible slip ups I think they are well worth keeping in the frame at the moment. Thank you Naomi24 - stay well
I wouldn't even trust a company like the Co-Op not to go bust, so I certainly couldn't rely on an unknown company (unknown to me) like Pure
rsvp, thank you. One does ones best. ;o)
Be careful of the "add-ons", they're probably buried in the small print! ;-)
....I'm the person who recommended Pure Cremations on your original post. I used them just a few months ago and they are absolutely brilliant....everything went as you would hope. This was a last-minute arrangement with them and I couldn't have been more pleased with their overall service.
The price they quote is all-in, including hand-delivery of the ashes to a chosen address...the only extra is if the death occurs other than in a hospital (which has it's own mortuary). Everything else is included and it's easy to deal with them by phone or online...

thank you gingejbee - I did read your reply to my OP and meant to acknowledge that as it was you who put me on to them - but forgot - sorry and thank you for the endorsement - they are definitely in the running. stay well
Thank you....I meant to add that because they specialise in just this sort of funeral, there is no "upselling"....trying to get you to spend more than you want. Traditional funeral directors are very much into all the "extras" ie extra profit!
Question Author
Agree with you there gingejibee and I have taken on board that the majority of negative reviews Pure C received were when family were involved. As I said that's not an issue with me as I want no-one there anyway. Had 'the talk' son yesterday and he's aware of my wishes - there's no hassles there.
I saw this advertised on tv and it is what I want. The only drawback were my sons. But I have made it clear that I don't want a religious service and I couldn't care less if nobody was there.

I think this is the key to using this service - you must either have your family on board who respect your decision or no family at all.
Hi, I'm from Pure Cremation and have read the responses with interest.
We do charge an extra £250 if you die outside of hospital, however if you buy our plan that's included. The funds go into an independent trust so even if the company were to go bust the money is safe.
We're also just building our own crematorium so we can handle the whole process ourselves. That involved outside investors putting in £7.35m. They did a thorough due diligence process on us first.
We do expect funeral plans to be regulated by the FCA pretty soon and so we've already registered - you can search the FCA register and find us there.
Not sure what else I can say, but hope that helps. If you'd like to come and visit please call and we can arrange.
Question Author
Thank you for the reply Pure Cremation - yes I would like to meet/see how things work - where in the SE can you be reached? Note you are a very new A/Ber so welcome to the group.
I'd use their website to contact them, otherwise Pure could be seen as advertising.

Get all the details you need to make the right choice for you.

Thank you mamyalynne - that was my intention - will check it out very carefully and won't make a quick decision.
I know you will, not to be rushed.
