Ercol Furniture - Help With Drawer Closure Please - Any Furniture Expert/carpenter!
5 Answers
I have some nice Ercol Artisan furniture with soft close drawers which work brilliantly however.....one of my lamp tables with a drawer, the drawer snaps shut and nearly has my fingers off (like the till drawer in 'Open all Hours' on TV)!
Is there any way that I can adjust the mechanism under the drawer to either reduce the speed of closure or disable it and close it normally? Please advise in simple terms as I am elderly but ok for basic DIY problems.
Ercol will charge a mint to send out someone.
Thanks everyone

"On some of our ranges (our Artisan, Romana and Windsor ranges) you can also adjust the doors and drawers. To adjust the drawer, you will need to remove it from the runners. First take everything out of the drawer. Pull the drawer out. Feel underneath and you will find two finger grips, one each side of the base at the front. Squeeze these to release the drawer. Turn the drawer over and you will see that there are two turn knobs to adjust the alignment from left to right of the drawer. Once adjusted push the runners back in and then slot the drawer in. Push it back until it clicks shut. Try opening it to make sure it is securely fastened and stops when fully opened."
It sounds as though the closing adjustment simply needs tweaking.
