Touch Lamps

I have a touch lamp that takes to different bulbs. I only have one bulb in because I only had one that would work for it right now. Would it cause the lamp to go through the cycles and eventually shut itself off?

And if I get the other bulb will that fix the problem or how do I keep it from cycling off?
