So the postie has put a card through my door, saying there is a parcel at the post office. Issue is the post man must be a complete plonker because not only do I live at a different house number AND street name, but I live literally across the village.

What do I do? Do I have to do anything? I'd rather put the card in the bin and forget it happened I don't want to go out of my way.

TD, the least effort, while still doing something, would be just to put a cross through the address on it, write "delivered to wrong address" next to it and put it back in post box. They can redeliver to the right house, then.

Oh my people need to read the thread before coming in to say what an awful human I am.

I have a life I haven't got time to be driving round the village and why on earth should I use my time, petrol and effort fixing someone elses mistake? I could get coronavirus from going here there and everywhere!!

Pixie, the least I could do is literally nothing. And the royal mail man on the phone said so. He said that would be fine I have no responsibility or obligation, but I did let them know of their error.
Don't be mean. Take it round to the right house. Do something helpful.
That's why I said "while still doing something". Of course it isn't your responsibility, it would just be helpful... and taken about 5 seconds, without having to negotiate the annoying phone systems they use...

I can't remember the last time I saw a post box
Blessed be the serial Answerbankers, they "haven't got time to be driving round the village".

Stop it please, my ribs won't take it.
// It's not my responsibility and for all royal mail know i'm not in the position to do anything.//

why do people ask about what to do
and then blather about responsibility? easy answer - you have no duties in respect of this

write on it - "delivered to wrong address" and repost
( yeah yeah OK it is a long way to the nearest red box)

The only time I worried is when the postie signed for a letter for me which er wasnt.... and I wasnt sure if it were a CCJ
TD, just stick it in the car with you and throw it in one when you see one. Anyway, it's sorted now, but it will save you time if it happens again x
thx Doug
and yet they have time to blaart endlessly on AB about duty and responsibility

does that remind you of the AB fave - president Trump ?
by the time you had typed your post and read all the advice you could have dealt with it ...

So you haven’t got time to drive around the village (which by its very definition wouldn’t take long as it’s a village) but you’ve got time to post on here about it. The milk of human kindness really does over flow sometimes.

For all you know I have raging gout.
//I could get coronavirus from going here there and everywhere!! //

Are you self-isolating?
You don't. You would have said earlier.
You certainly have raging something :-)
TD.//For all you know I have raging gout.//
So that is what is making you so curmudgeonly.
Danny, the last word of his last post was superfluous...
That’s a big ‘ village’ you live in ?
I would hand the card to my postman next time he called and ask him to redirect it to the correct address.
