Caustic soda is sodium hydroxide but potassium hydroxide can be just as damaging to skin. It, like sodium hydroxide, is use in oven cleaning products.

thanks all - its for my story - i was going to have someone put a small amount of caustic soda on someones stomach skin - for a sadistic laugh - but then they leave and leave the person tied up, so they would not get any help for it for a day or two at least, and i realised that to just leave it on their skin, burning away, would cause way too much damage, likely permanent and maybe even kill them? like eat through it etc

so realised i had to change that - but i think bleach is too weak - i wanted it to start to burn immediately, the effect he wanted - but obviously bleach doesnt and even then the burns are pretty mild compared to acid

but really without fairly fast intervention, nothing will work for this, so ive put bleach for now, unless i find something better - or a way to have it tended to quicker

i dont want him to seriously injure or kill anyone - hes just a nasty twisted *** with a sick sense of humour.

ive heard vinegar will neutralise CS but also heard not a good idea either that it reacts badly too - urgh, i just dont know - obviously all the sites i look at dont explain how to burn someone on purpose! haha, and very few people would just leave it to burn so details of effects are limited

this story is kind of a learning on, im using it to learn, teach me to write, doing all the things the pros do - so research is part of it, so although this is a tough one, its interesting and all part of it.

if anyone has any ideas for this, let me know thanks :)

(he already does ordinary burns - those will hurt but heal)

well given that all i have told you is someone gets burned by a madman - nothing else whatsoever about it - your opinion really doesnt mean very much.
