It's up to you. We had a bathroom fitter in our house last week, for about 5 days. We said that we were not bothered if he wore a mask or not. He did not wear one, but we did keep our distance. We all got along just fine.
The legislation permits people to work in other people's homes where necessary. However the engineer needs to be cognisant of the advice given here, which I suggest you should also read prior to his visit:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/homes
Don’t see why not. I’m currently having the house extended and also quite a bit of knocking through, and for the last two months, other than Xmas, we’ve had at least 4 people at the house most days.

They have to earn a living.
Same as Heating Engineers,DD.
Just let him come in and don't tell anyone,.
Why "dont tell anyone" dave? Its allowed under the rules and neighbours will see anyway- no need to sneak them in during darkness in an unmarked van. Just stay safe- keep out of the room while his there, leave a window open , clean up if he uses toilet, wipe switches after
Or stick it down the end of the garden on a long extension lead.
Yes
My washing machine went on the blink. It needed new brushes and the repair man came in by the kitchen door. He wore a mask and did the job. Left his bill on the worktop and I paid by bank transfer.
I would call that essential work, so yes. I'd be lost without my TV.
It is essential. You need it to be able to absorb the latest government propaganda.
