Hi josaphine,I was warned when I got my laptop that it would be best to use a seperate mouse,as the mouse pads are prone to wearing out.Better get an optical mouse, then you problems will be solved. Not sure what to do about the imediate non-function of the pad though.Sorry I can't be more help.

Using tab key and enter should enable you to navigate to log off screen. Keep pressing tab - watch for what is highlighted. It should work.

go to:

Start, Settings, Control Panel.... and under 'Mouse' or 'Poiting devices'... you will see that the touchpad or built in mouse in the keyboard (referred to as a 'niple') has been disabled. Dead easy to swith it back on. Some people disabple this because they nock the touchpad accidentally and therefore wish to JUST use an external mouse alone. Post back if you have problems with it.
