newjudge is right that the laws are not clear and guidelines can be interpreted but common sense tells me the spirit of the rules/guidance is not to travel more than maybe 10 miles for food or drive anywhere to exercise.. Yes I know you can say driving 50 miles is no riskier than driving 5 miles but the police rightly stop some people as some abuse it driving 50 miles (via a veach/picnic spot) for other reasons but claiming its for shopping, exercise, but the longer you go the more likely you need to stop for petrol, coffee, toilet or may break down. Stay at (near) home
Don't get that Bobb, how come its no more riskier driving 50 mile than 5 mile?

alavalrf, the only times I have been outside the house in the last 12 months is for medical appointments. Not for shopping, exercise or any other reason. I am not embarrassed to ask because I intend to abide by the rules but could find no clear explanation as to where I can drive to and for why. Don't be so judgmental
Have you tried giving the butcher a ring and asking if they're delivering in the current circumstances?
barry where is this butcher? I'm thinking of going there myself!
You can’t beat a good sausage!!......; )
I think barry is Yorkshire somewhere, and I think ttt is south east somewhere?

In what respect?
the supermarket "butchers" are either lazy or incompetent, they leave easily removable gristle in steaks, they leave the H bone in legs of lamb 4fS! When I was 13, I had a Saturday job in a traditional butchers and he'd have had a fit to see the stuff they put out these days. it's not just the quality of the meat, that can be very good but it gets spoiled by lazy butchery.
Smow got some in the fridge, so sausage sandwich for me awaiting
I shouldn't worry about being confused, the government are as well, its all a load of tripe and polony.
what's polony? is that like Baloney?

In a bubble maybe?
There's very few, if any, butchers work in supermarkets, most of it comes already pre-packed, and even if they do handle a lump of fresh meat, and it is usually a joint that hasn't sold, they will unpack it and cut it into what they believe to be steaks, and at that against the grain, opposed to with the grain. Their so called x joint packs, come steaks, topside / silverside would serve well as a shoe sole.

Poloney is a type of sausage. Ellipsis, my butcher is delivering locally but I really am too far away. Seems ridiculous that he can deliver but I can't collect. I know business is booming for him, he has had to take on more staff.
I agree with TTT, supermarket meat is not usually up to standard.
Is your butcher online?
Crossed posts...
Question Author
Yes, teacake is right, supermarkets are meat sellers not traditional, properly trained butchers.
Question Author
I'm just going to wait a few more weeks or however long it takes.
"barry where is this butcher? I'm thinking of going there myself '
