I recently sold some 9ct gold rings with a large non precious stones for scrap gold value and the value was fair but.......
How did the jeweller decide what the actual gold weight was without removing the stones - I am puzzled!
Thanks
Moggie
as peter crptically says, it's probably experience with an err for caution (in the dealer's favour). He came up with a price that you were happy with so it's win-win
Thank you Barry1010 for giving me the link and answer I was looking for. It was a serious question I asked and all I got was 'Del Boy' humour!
I asked because although there was a fair weight of gold (some were 18ct) in the rings - most of them had large stones of litle value.
Now I have read your link I understand more.
Regards
Moggie
