I'm wondering when people started tossing around the bottles & shakers etc when making a cocktail, for performance reasons, like they do in the movie Cocktail?

is it an 80s invention or an older thing?

Not sure when but the 'where' was a place with a less grasping position on tax and duty on alcohol allowing for affordable practice
