Here's a website with the list on

http://www.dynamoo.com/technical/phonetic.htm

Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lemur, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, Xray, Yankee, Zulu.

Guess what? Enter alpha bravo in Google and hit 'I'm Feeling Lucky'

Or if you wanted to be really clever you could learn the German version;

Anton Berta Ceasar Dora Emil Friedrich Gustav Heinrich Ida Julius Kaufmann Ludwig Martha Nordpol Otto Paula Quelle Richard Samuel Theodor Ulrich Viktor Wilhelm Xanthippe Ypsilon Zacharias

Interesting to see L spelt as lemur. I am used to seeing Lima, but lemur seems better.
Grunty, i've just checked, your right, it is Lima, my apologies to gingerflaps.

I just thought, what about the old British version as used in the Second World War. Able Baker Charlie ... don't know any more.

The NATO one was chosen because the words sound distinct and recognisable when spoken in any accent.

OK I just Googled and discovered the older British one. It is:

Able, Baker, Charlie, Dog, Easy, Fox, George, How, Item, Jig, King, Love, Mike, Nan, Oboe, Peter, Queen, Roger, Sugar, Tare, Uncle, Victor, William, X-ray, Yoke, Zebra.

All Able Bakers from Foxy uncle Mike, chocks away and happy Chrimble.

Able, Baker, Charlie etc is the old American version as used by the British so that there was no confusion during joint operations. The NATO version has since taken over.
