I am trying to buy a full size tripod for this telescope as a xmas gift. He has a table top one. I have googled it but don't know if I need a specific make. Or will the fittings on any tripod be OK? TIA

I think that tripod and device to tripod fittings are pretty interchangeable. We have a tripod which has a fitting you can attach to our telescope, monocular, I phone, camera and so on
