I have a mobile phone,on a Pay As You Go (Vodaphone I think).

I don't know how to operate it!

It is my late partners phone, and he was very wary of letting me know how it works.

Is there anywhere that might have a video of this.

I can just about bring up the phone book, but cannot see how to access anything else on it.

The phone is an up to date model, with a big screen,if that helps?

Help please.

Thank You,Gordon.

If it's not an Apple, look for an icon named "Settings", tap that and look for "About phone". (This may be located under "System" or "About device", depending on the version of Android.)Once you’ve located the section, tap on it to open a new page with detailed information about your phone. Here you’ll be able to see the manufacturer, model name and number

what is the make and model of the phone?

Can you access the phone.  Did you know his pin number?

Goggle the model and it will show you how.

Thanks to THECORBYLOON,

I now have the following:~

Model Type 5033X

Android Version 8.1.0

and,User Manual

"Touch to open user manual"

This redirects me to an Internet site~www.alcatelmobile.com user manual

I shall investigate this, and report back!

A really big thank you to THECORBYLOON.

Not a problem, it'll take a while to get used to how the 'phone works and how to navigate your way to the various functions.

There might be a fair few icons on it you'll never use but as long as you can get a grip of using contacts, 'phone, messages and the internet, you'll be fine.

Thank You,

Although it happened on Nov 16th 2023,it is still a bit raw(after 49 years together).

However, thanks to two people from near Tenterden,I have been put in contact with quite a few new(and supportive)friends.

I am getting somewhere, but slowly.

My motto now is:~"One day at a time"

I am waiting now to hear about getting into sheltered housing(I am 76)but it moves slowly.

More updates will follow, for you,and all the guys on AB that have supported me so wonderfully in this.

I could not have done all this without them!

Much appreciated!

76!!!!  That makes you a baby on here;-)

For THECORBYLOON,and all others~

Still reading, and trying to digest the users manual.

My friend, who has become my unofficial "carer"comes back from his hols soon, and he is going to give me a lesson how to work this mobile!LOl

Yes,at 76,I am still learning! LOL

the trick it to work out what you actually want the phone to do for you.  If it's just for emergency use for calls, just concentrate on how to do that, if it's internet etc concentrate on that.

A phne will do everything your computer does (plus probably more) but no need to overwhelm yourself learning how, if you have other devices you are already familiar with to do it for you

Some very good points there,Thank You!

If it is pay as you go, using it for the internet could be expensive. However if it connects to your home wi-fi, it won't use mobile data so won't use up your credit.

Hopkirk~Thank You

No Internet use, just like a standard phone,to call friends when out etc.

I am not sure if we have Wi~Fi.How do I tell?

Oh,the wonders of modern technology, for a somewhat dumb 76 year old! LOL

How do you access the internet to post here, Gordon? If your device is not plugged in to your router/hub you have wifi

I am on the Internet with BT,down the landline connection,or is that a bit primitive nowadays?
LOL

Question Author

We DO have a router/hub,it works very efficiently.

Yes, but is your laptop or computer plugged in to the router?
