Changed Email Password On Ipad Can’t Log In On Phone

Further to my previous question. I have changed my BT email password on my iPad and all ok. However trying to open email on my phone and it says Session expired please log in again. I can see my messages in a darker tone under the message. Is this a scam and how can l get back into my emails on my phone without giving my new password??
