Common ways of making use of it are:
Solar ovens, which use reflectors to concentrate the energy in a small area
Solar water heating, which uses a sort of "radiator in reverse" to heat water (You see them a lot on the roofs of hotels and houses in the Med.)
Solar Voltaic arrays, which turn the light into electricty which is then stored in accumulators and used to power domestic appliances. They are also used on "green" cars and aircraft.
