Broken television

A six-year-old Panasonic television that has never gone wrong before has started playing up. After turning the set on, it is OK for a few minutes before the screen starts flickering - and then it turns itself off and goes into standby mode.

Is this a straightforward problem?

I had a similar problem and called in a tv repairman and it was relatively easy and cheap job to repair. It was a Panasonic Quintrix widescreen tv but I don't remember what the problem was but he only charged me �35 to take it away, repair it and return.
