Electrical Symbol any idea what it means.please ?

On a 240v AC to 12v DC mains unit I have the following symbol.

DC Output 12Vdc === 2A (I can not depict it exactly by keyboard but the top bar of the 3 equal signs is continuous)

dvd+rw

Power Surge would they tell you ?

Mortartube

That is the symbol for DC electricity. AC is a wave, a bit like the letter "S" flipped left by 90 degrees. It means that your power supply can supply 12 volts DC up to a current of 2 amps. Which is fairly high for a power supply DC output for domestic use.

Thanks for that Mortartube. It is the power supply for an External Hard Disk Drive.

My adjacent question regarding power surges in the mains supply. Two of these in different sockets went at the same time. These things run pretty hot but I have never had one fail never mind two at once. Very Odd ?

Might be worth checking with the manufacturer in case there was a bad batch or known bug in them especially if they were purchased at around the same time.

Like you say - unusual to have 2 blow at once.
