Hi..i have a Packard Bell thats not starting properly. When i switch the thing on i get a blank screen saying something about the boot device and thats it. BUT if i turn the thing on and go to the bios (F2) and press F10 (which saves the settings) WITHOUT changeing anything the PC starts up fine.

I would suggest that your BIOS battery has died/is dying. However, depends on what the message about the boot device is saying.

Very easy to change the battery ;

hi kevb0444,i would suggest you think carefully before removing the BIOS battery it can cause some serious problems if its left out too long.
Well it does sound like the motherboard battery has died, don't worry about how long the battery is out, if it is dead the BIOS settings have already reverted to ''default'' anyway.
