i have just bought a philips 24pw6407/05 tv, the volume seems to be muted untill it reaches 24 and then comes on at that level. i have phoned the shop and was told that the volume was probably locked at that level ???? HELP ME PLEASE how can i unlock it so that the volume starts from 0

Can you go into the menu - sound (or volume settings or similar) and offset the volume?

This means that when the volume bar is showing 1 it is really 10 - or whatever you set it at.

If you don't succeed I would be asking for a refund or replacement or for someone to come out free of charge, you should be able to have the volume just how you like it just like everyone else does ....
Or if you are going past the shop that you bought it from (assuming that you didn't get it online etc) ask someone to show you how it's done, that way you'll probably remember if you get a chance to see it done.
