I'm very confused about all the ads on tv telling us all tv is going to be digital very soon. Does this mean I'll have to buy a new set and video recorder? Will I still be able to watch all my old video tapes? Some of them are very dear to me, and are not likely to be repeated.

If you want to receive digital tv you can update your tv by buying a set top box for �30 upwards, a sky dish for around �150 or by subscribing to sky or cable.
Your video player will continue to play your tapes and you will still be able to record programmes.
In a few years time the current system (analogue) will be switched off, but by then you will be up and running and enjoying digital tv.
I pay �5.50 per month to my cable company telewest for the basic package.
