if you have had a bill,it will tell you on it if there is any discount for students.

it very much depends upon your living situation are you renting a property by yourself?....well in general you need to be in education for a least 21 hours per week...or on what can be called a full time course even if there are not 21 hours of lectures etc.

You must be careful with this as it can be strictly enforced by councils. I would advise that you go to your local office and speak to someone in the local taxation and benifits to see what help they maybe able to give you.

hope this helps

The above answers only tell part of the story. It is the PROPERTY that is assessed for Council Tax not the OCCUPANT. Having said that, students (as defined above) do not count when assessing the number of people in a student house. So a house of 4 students pays no council tax, a house of 4 containing 3 students and 1 non-student gets the 25% reduction for one person occupancy, a house of 4 with 2 students and 2 non-students pays the full whack. I'm sure you get the idea.

hey there again

this guide from the deputy prime minister's office may help

Do you own property?. If you dont then unless its an agreement with the house owner which you have agreed on then no. If you own property then you may well be entitled a reduction in payment.

Thanks everyone, I live in rented accomodation with my 2 year old son.
I'd go with the "only exempt if a full time student" line. 21hrs per week or more
