Strictly speaking you could call your local Council although they probably would not remove it if it is in your garage, but you could explain that you know the culprit and they might write them a letter, however that might escalate the situation into a worse dispute. Best to keep it firmly locked.
Thanks for your answers. I can't lock the door as there's no door! I would get a door but funds won't allow it just now. It's the principle of it really, how dare he? It's ridiculous. It's not rubbish that can be linked to him by the police or council - it's large items he wants rid of (and presumably can't be bothered to put them in his own shed or take them to the tip like normal people would). The first item, he practically admitted was his as he blamed his teenage kids, and I had seen a new similar item being delivered to him the day before. So it stands to reason that the rest of it was his too. There are only two other sets of neighbours - one of those sets are good friends and wouldn't dream of doing such a thing and the other two are much older and have always disposed of their unwanted items in the proper manner. The culprit is an aggressive 30 yr old chav (for want of a better word!!)
He rents his property privately - so would the council do anything if it happened again? Or would it be a police matter? Would his letting agent want to know? I don't really want to have to go down any of those routes, but he probably thinks because I'm a bit younger and on my own he can do what he likes. I do find him intimidating, but I will report his behaviour if it happens again.
just put it back in his shed, then say you know nothing about it.
also tell him you have a camera trained on the shed and you will call the police if you see anyone near the shed.
you could put something inside a window that looks like a camera from a distance. you can also buy dummy cameras
i would just nail boards over the doorway, you can remove them as and when you need the shed.
