is it dangerous to leave a dishasher on when you leave the house i.e is it a fire hazard?

Matthay, I used to leave mine on when I was out. But recently it stopped on a cycle and was over heating. Lucky I was home, as think it would of caught fire!

I have used one for years and we put it on when we go out or sometimes when we go to bed.

It is more dangerous to go out for a drive in your car.

There are great benefits to leaving a dishwasher on and going out. I did this when my water intake was regulated by a magnetic float - and with very little effort I returned home to an indoor swiming pool. Now I have a Miele with a water stop device ,well worth the extra outlay.

A part time Fireman who services our fire extinguishers in our workplace told us that in his 20 yrsof experience the most common appliances to cause a fire were the washing machine, dishwasher, TV and immersion heater.

SoI never leave them on when the the house is unoccupioed.

Now im really worried as i am not sure when i will be able to leave the house.....firstly i had the washer on, so stayed in, then the dishwasher,so stayed in, then i have now realised there is no hot water so looks like i will have to stay in for the immersion. ...trouble is that i have more washing to do,and after dinner, more washing up, using more hot water......anyone know of a housesitter? seriously though, with todays electronics and circuit breakers it is probably safer than ever.
